BLOGS JAMESDAWN "A pre-Scourge legend talks about a decrepid creature, feeble and weak to those appraising it with physical senses, but those who view it astrally can discern its True nature. It is the blog gob, a scholarly remnant from an age when bog gobs were better than gooey marauders with sharp sticks." -- Geshtid Nonn, Scholar of Landis

Last updated: August 10, 2010 - 15:55 Discuss this blog on the forums! August 10, 2010 - 15:55 Wow, what a week! The Con was larger than anything that I have ever seen before. Dammi, Kathy and James tell me that Spiel(sp?) is much larger but I was impressed all the same. The action was non-stop. You could find something to do at any hour, day or night.
We filled our time scouting the booths for new and interesting games, meetings with old associates and new, and made some time for a little gaming ourselves. Many thanks to Bogie for his fine adventures.
A couple of our crew participated in some tourneys and did very well. Kudos to them and I hope they post something about them. :)
All in all, I enjoyed myself very much and made some pretty cool new friends. Now, to get back on top of things back home and get back to work. June 28, 2010 - 11:12 James and I have just returned from a day at the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio. The fair had a much better turnout this year. Last year was pretty slim pickings, but they sold out the exhibit hall for 2010. Things are looking good. :)
We had a chance to drop by the Mongoose booth and had a nice chat with them. Some of the other exhibitors we saw there were Alderac Entertainment Group, Atlas Games, Margaret Weis Productions, Catalyst Games Labs, Chaosium, Chessex, Crystal Caste, Dwarven Forge, Evil Hat Productions, Pinnacle Entertainment, Posthuman Studios, Reaper Miniatures, Sandstorm Productions, Steve Jackson Games, Green Ronin, Wildfire LLC, and Wyrd Miniatures.
It was pretty cool talking to other industry professionals; hearing their perspective on different aspects of the gaming world. All of them were very gracious and professional.
On a personal note, James and I picked up quite a few books for our own gaming perusal and possible play. There were quite a few good deals to be had if you knew where to look. I was also very enamored of the costume booths. The Steampunk variety was pretty interesting and the corsets at Renaissance Fashions were gorgeous. The lady at the booth there let me try one on. She put me in a skirt and laced me up in this beautiful black and white corset. When she was finished, all James could say was, "You look hot..." I love being a newlywed. I hope to order something from them for the Ren Faire next year. :)
One nice benefit they had there was that registered members could take advantage of the Kids Play area. My children spent the day playing with toys, watching cartoons, making Lego creations, doing a pirate treasure hunt, sparring with padded weapons and shields, building castles with cardboard boxes... I think they may have had the most fun there. ;)
We met a few Earthdawn fans and a gentleman running a Fading Suns LARP. I regret we couldn't take part in the LARP, but it was late and everyone was very tired. Perhaps we will have the chance at Gen Con.
My only real disappointment was that there weren't enough Stormtroopers. :) June 23, 2010 - 12:35 Greetings all,
James and I have had a very busy time of late. We've been getting him settled in, taking the children to Boy Scout events (camps and caves), and to top it off, running away to Virginia and getting married.
Yes, you read that right. On the 18th of June, we eloped in a sweet little town by the name of Luray, VA. We also checked out the caves, and the Garden Maze, and the auto museum while we were there. The interior of the theater was also impressive with its Chinese Dragon statues, suits of plate armor and collections of sword canes on display. All in all, a wonderful time.
The blog picture is from our wedding day and we have more available to view at http://picasaweb.google.com/SouthCourtAlbums/DawnJames if you are interested in flipping through some photos.
Following that, we slipped down near Richmond, VA and dropped in on Tarliman and his family for a Summer Solstice celebration and some great food and conversation.
We're back home now and aside from preparing to go drop in on Origins for a day, we're busy getting back to work doing the job we love most.
Thanks for sharing in our lives and in our fun. Without the gaming world, he and I would never have met. :)
Dawn June 9, 2010 - 19:59 The past few weeks have been busy with selling, packing, and tossing,
and spending time with old friends. And that's just on James' end.
Here, we are cleaning and getting ready for summer events.
What does this mean for RedBrick? It means attending more game
conventions. It means easier contact with our artists and developers.
It means better time zones to converse with our European friends.
I am very happy to have James here with us, but then I have my own
agenda there being his fiancé. ;-)
One more day and he'll be on his way!
