RedBrick LLC is planning to publish a new supplement for the Earthdawn game: the Legends and Heroes sourcebook. The intent of this book is to offer players and gamemasters insight into the legends told among the people of Barsaive and the bold tales of the heroes walking the earth, fighting Horrors, and wielding legendary magical treasures. This book will also provide suggestions for creating adventures based on each of the legends and heroes presented, and will include game statistics for use in your campaigns.
Since this is an open call, everyone can participate. Please read the following guidelines very carefully before submitting. Submissions that do not conform to the guidelines will not be accepted!
GENERAL PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The Legends and Heroes sourcebook is an expansion supplement for Earthdawn Third Edition with material intended for players and gamemasters. This book will contain tales of wonder and legend, accounts on the most famous heroes and villains of Barsaive, and excerpts from adventuring journals and diaries of adepts from all across Barsaive, describing all manner of dangers and marvels from the mysterious lands unexplored in Earthdawn's Age of Legend. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We’re looking for new tales and legends, each presented in the following format and structure: - An in-game “legend” part for the eyes of players and gamemasters alike, between 1,000 and 2,000 words in length. There is no common format for this section: it can be a story, song or poem, a tale, an excerpt from an adventuring journal or diary, letters, or other writing. Since this book is titled Legends and Heroes, the subject of this tale can be the deeds of a famous hero or villain (alive or dead). The only restriction is that this must be written from an in-game perspective.
- An out-game “mechanics” part for the gamemaster’s eyes only, up to 5,000 words in length. This section provides background for the associated legend, and gives guidelines for creating adventures or even an entire campaign based on it. Game statistics are to be included here if necessary (especially for the heroes and villains).
- If you need examples, we suggest looking at the First Edition books Legends of Earthdawn, Volume I and the Legends of Earthdawn, Volume II: The Book of Exploration.
